Educational Technology

The Educational Technology Program at Alternatives For Children supports the development of children’s cognitive, language, motor, and social skills through age-appropriate technology. Carefully selected educational software helps children make progress toward the goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Our Educational Technology classes are thoughtfully designed with preschool learners in mind. Children participate in weekly sessions in our dedicated computer room, where each station features an internal touch screen to promote independence and easy access for young children.

Technology is also integrated throughout our classrooms. All classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards, which are used for large- and small-group instruction, music and movement, and gross motor activities. iPads are available for classroom use through our lending library or are brought directly into classrooms by our Educational Technology Teachers to support small-group learning, fine motor development, and early literacy skills.

Our Educational Technology Teachers collaborate with classroom staff by providing Smart Board and iPad resources that enhance instruction and align with the class’s current Creative Curriculum studies. Through the use of computers and tablets, children investigate questions, solve problems, and explore ideas in engaging, hands-on ways. Most importantly, the focus is on fun, curiosity, and exploration.
