Special Education Itinerant Teachers - SEIT

Special Education Itinerant Teachers (SEITs) provide special education support to preschool children within their natural learning environments, such as nursery schools, daycare programs, or UPK classrooms.

SEIT services are written into a child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and are designed to support children as they learn alongside their peers.

SEITs work directly with children on IEP goals across developmental areas, including communication, social-emotional skills, play, behavior, and early learning.

Unlike classroom-based special education teachers, SEITs do not manage or lead a classroom.

Instead, they travel to the child’s educational setting and provide individualized instruction and strategies in collaboration with families and classroom teachers. This approach allows children to receive targeted support while remaining in a familiar, inclusive environment.

Children and adults engage in arts and crafts activities at a table.
